SOURCING SPECIALIST

PNP Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to join our Purchasing & Logistics team. This is a newly created position to support our Purchasing & Logistics team and PNP as we continue to grow.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and negotiate purchase materials, supplies and components from vendors and suppliers to support business needs
  • Work closely with Product Development and QA/QC Team to maintain approved vendor list based on regulatory and customer requirements
  • Create negotiation strategies and complete agreements with suppliers to optimize prices, terms, transportation charges and other related costs
  • Work with purchasing team on calculating costs of procurement, data, spreadsheets and provide recommendations for process improvements and/or cost savings
  • Research trends and market conditions for present and future pricing, availability, lead-time and new trend materials to support purchasing department
  • Obtain and analyze quotes and costs to find best solution to meet business needs
  • Conduct cost analysis and competitive sourcing events
  • Develop and sustain effective long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure products are delivered on time and meet quality requirement
  • Research and develop new sources or substitute of supplies, materials or suppliers to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Track documentation requests from suppliers and obtain follow up documents if necessary
  • Maintain and update operating system software, worksheets, lists, and databases
  • Year-end inventory counts (December and January are vacation blackout periods)
  • Other duties that may be required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary degree relating to purchasing management/administration
  • 2-3 years experience in procurement in food / pharmaceutical / nutraceutical industry
  • APICS certification an asset
  • Project management skills would be an asset
  • Technical knowledge of nutraceutical/pharmaceutical/food raw and packaging materials
  • Knowledge of packaging componentry would be an asset
  • Knowledge of logistics would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, strong Excel skills required
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with ERP system
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organized and ability to multitask
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to work independently and in team
